AURIN was announced as the winner of the Spatial Enablement award at the 10th Annual Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards at a gala dinner in Melbourne on 25th September 2014.
AURIN has been developing a relationship with ETH Singapore’s Future Cities Laboratory. There is an immense potential in combining urban data, simulation models and advanced visualisation technologies to assist in cross-city comparative analytics and and collaboration.
Dr Jack Barton presented the keynote address to the Fifth Open Source GIS Conference – OSGIS 2014 giving an overview and some technical insights of AURIN to the international geospatial community. The conference spanned two days from the 2nd to the 3rd of September at the Nottingham Geospatial Institute, University of Nottingham.
August saw the introduction of an intensive week-long Urban Informatics Masters subject targeted at planning, landscape architecture, architecture and spatial science students at the University of Melbourne. Advanced visualisation, immersion and a more direct human experience were discussed in the think tank and workshop held by AURIN and the Future Cities Laboratory from ETH Zurich at SimTect on 26-27 August in Adelaide.
This cool little guide presents a snapshot of the information contained within the AURIN Portal. Currently, the Beta 4 version of the Portal contains 1000+ datasets from more than 30 providers.
An Australian consortium organised by AURIN attended meetings in Dublin, London and Cambridge from March to April 2014 to further the agenda of the outcomes from the 3rd EU-Australia Workshop on Research Infrastructure.
