AURIN is thrilled to share that our Senior Data Scientist, Dr Hao Chen, has been selected as a 2025 Geospatial World Rising Star.

The Geospatial World Rising Stars initiative aims to showcase the achievements of individuals under 40 who are proactive and passionate about demonstrating the value of geospatial technology to society, the environment, and business. Stars are selected in recognition of their significant contributions to organisational, national, regional and global geospatial efforts.

This year’s list includes 50 Rising Stars from around the world, with Hao selected on the basis of his leadership of the Australian Urban Health Indicators (AusUrb-HI) project: “His perseverance lead to overcoming ethical and logistical challenges to securely analysing fine-grained datasets, creating a new approach for spatially detailed insights in public health decision-making across Australia.”

“It’s a great honour to be selected as part of this year’s Geospatial Rising Stars list, alongside many talented individuals from around the world. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the entire AusUrb-HI team, whose complementary expertise and seamless collaboration were invaluable. I’d like to give them a big thank you and look forward to continuing our contributions and innovations in the geospatial sector in Australia – and even globally – in the future!” says Hao.

Congratulations again to Hao!
