AURIN welcomes Dr Bradley Greig to the team as a Data Scientist in our Engineering Team.
Bradley holds a PhD in theoretical astrophysics from the University of Melbourne and brings over a decade of postdoctoral research experience across institutions including Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, the University of Melbourne, and the Australian National University.
While his academic background is in astrophysics, Bradley has a keen interest in understanding our weather, climate, and urban environments. His interests are nurtured, not just through science research, but also years spent immersed in city-building simulation games. At AURIN, he’s found an ideal match: an organisation where data-driven analysis and technical expertise can be applied to further our understanding of and improve our cities, towns and regions.
“I wanted to shift into work where I could use my research and technical skills to directly benefit the broader community,” says Bradley.
“AURIN offers the perfect intersection of my interests in data, climate, and urban systems and the chance to collaborate with a talented and values-driven team,” says Bradley.
Since joining, Bradley has focused on immersing himself in a new research domain while drawing on parallels from his astrophysics career. He’s especially interested in exploring the insights made possible by human mobility data and enjoys approaching unfamiliar problems with a fresh perspective.
Bradley is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and a deep commitment to integrity. He places particular importance on clear, honest storytelling and data visualisation. “Authenticity for me means being open about the steps I take in analysis and ensuring the insights come from the data itself, not from assumptions,” he explains.
We’re pleased to have Bradley on board as he brings his analytical strengths, creativity, and research mindset to AURIN’s growing data science team.
