AURIN welcomes Rohit Gupta

We are pleased to welcome Rohit Gupta as AURIN’s new Data/Data Science Officer. Rohit is part of the Data and the Data Science Team, where he works on data engineering and research aspects to build upon AURIN’s capability for the urban, regional, and social science research community.

“I was looking for an opportunity where I could apply my engineering and data science skills. AURIN fulfilled all of these requirements and more. I used AURIN’s datasets during my university assignments and was fascinated by the ease of accessibility of spatialized datasets from multiple sources.

I’m looking forward to developing tools and capabilities that can assist in expanding and managing the aggregation of datasets provided by AURIN, thereby supporting Australia’s research community and decision-makers,” says Rohit.

In 2009, Rohit completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology and started working as a software engineer. During his professional journey, he worn the hats of a developer, technical lead, technical architect, innovation team lead, and technology and programming trainer. After almost a decade of working in the industry, he pursued a Master of Data Science from the University of Melbourne, where he co-authored a research paper on the application of natural language processing on law judgements.

Rohit finds comfort in conversations and storytelling, and his interests are photography, writing, cooking, and carefree dancing. He defines himself as someone who works at the intersection of innovation, creativity, and technology.
