Following the passing late last year of the Chair of AURIN’s Board, Dr Peter Woodgate, the University of Melbourne has appointed Mr Greg Tucker, current Board member, as Interim Chair of the Board. This appointment has been endorsed by the Federal Department of Education.
As former CEO of Maurice Blackburn lawyers, consultant to the OECD and former Professor and Head of Banking and Finance Department at Monash University, Greg brings a wealth of experience and expertise across industry, government and academia.
Peter Woodgate was instrumental in guiding AURIN through tumultuous times, overseeing essential transformations and supporting the executive team with unwavering enthusiasm and an ambitious vision. He was widely respected across the geospatial sector in Australia and internationally. He had recently been appointed to the Geospatial Council of Australia.
With Greg Tucker as Interim Chair, AURIN will continue to deliver on its key objectives, working with partners to provide researchers with high quality urban data and support critical research on Australian cities and regional centres.
“I’m confident that Greg’s steady hand and intimate knowledge of AURIN’s position within the National Research Infrastructure will allow our executive team to honour Peter Woodgate’s legacy and fulfil his ambitious vision for AURIN,” says Prof Pascal Perez, Director of AURIN.
AURIN will look to appoint an ongoing Chair in the coming months. The new Chair will have a crucial role to play in confirming AURIN’s key position between academia, government, and industry in the development of a sovereign capability, including the design and implementation of urban digital twins.
