INFORMATION COLLECTION NOTICE – USE OF AURIN SERVICES

Who we are and how to contact us

AURIN is the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network. The University of Melbourne, is AURIN’s lead agent. It administers, operates and controls AURIN.

What information we collect and how

This Information Collection Notice explains how AURIN collects, uses and discloses personal information collected from you when you use the AURIN Services or when you otherwise interact with AURIN.

We collect personal information as part of our authentication processes, including your name, email address, the name of your organisation and other login credentials. We may also collect information about your use of the AURIN Services (for example, details of when and how many times you have logged in to the AURIN Services. We may collect personal information from third parties. For example, your login credentials may be managed by your organisation and provided to us through our Authentication Services such as Australian Access Federation (AAF) etc.

This Information Collection Notice also explains how you can access or correct your personal information, the purposes for which your information is collected, who we disclose your information to and what happens if you do not provide the information to us.

How can you gain access to your information?

AURIN undertakes its best endeavours to ensure that any information it holds about you is accurate, complete and up to date. You have a right to seek access to and correction of your personal information that we hold, or to contact us with a privacy complaint. To do so, you can email support@aurin.org.au or write to:

We will respond to your request or complaint within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response to a complaint, you have a right to apply to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner to have your complaint heard and determined.

Purposes for which your information is collected

The following purposes are the purposes your information is being collected:

• To allow access to the AURIN Services
• To improve AURIN’s services based on your usage of the AURIN Services
• To inform you about any AURIN related activities, for example by adding your information to a mailing list etc.

Who do we disclose your information to?

AURIN and the University of Melbourne will only disclose your information to University of Melbourne and AURIN employees and AURIN contractors or collaborators for the purpose of operating the AURIN Services. This is information is only disclosed on an as required basis.

Where necessary to meet our reporting obligations or under our funding agreements, we may disclose personal information to the Commonwealth Department of Education or other Commonwealth Government departments or agencies. We may disclose information for law enforcement purposes but only where such disclosure is authorised or required by law.

What happens if you do not provide the information to us?

If you do not provide information to us, you may not be able to access to AURIN Services, be informed about changes to the AURIN Services or be informed about AURIN Related activities such as AURIN workshops, training materials etc.
