E-research infrastructure user testing

Much of the AURIN e-research infrastructure is being developed from the ground up so our user testing program is pivotal to developing an effective and easy-to-use system.

Thank you to all those who have participated as Beta testers so far. Whether you completed a survey, participated in the monitoring & evaluation process, attended one-on-one tests or contributed as discipline experts, we would like to express our utmost appreciation and look forward to implementing the huge list of recommendations and feature requests that have come out of this on-going process.

In the last few weeks, we have also undertaken an exercise in user-interface testing at the Usability Lab at The University of Melbourne. This involved 13 participants, experienced in practice related to AURIN’s concerns but not familiar with the Portal, attending 60-90 minute sessions spread over 3 weeks.

The sessions firstly tested the existing interface and then mock-ups of amended designs. These mock-ups arose out of many hours of discussion within the team after the first round of testing, aided by involvement and facilitation from user-experience specialists design4use.

If you are interested in participating in the project as a Beta tester, please contact the Urban Data and eResearch Facilitator to discuss upcoming sessions.
