AURIN has committed to providing funding to strengthen its relationship and build better economic and research outcomes in Adelaide and South Australia. AURIN is pleased to be partnering with the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute (AITI) at Flinders University @ Tonsley, enabling new insights for Australian researchers and policy makers. The AITI team have undertaken extensive demographic, economic and social research at the regional level in South Australia and nationally. The team have been active in AURIN since its establishment and played a leading role the development of tools and dataset. AITI also plays a major role in providing strategic advice to government and industry based on data developed in collaboration with AURIN (through tools such as EIAT).

This collaboration provides a valuable resource to current initiatives underway in South Australia through its inclusion of South Australia-specific and local datasets into the AURIN infrastructure. The new funding will support the updating, and application, of South Australian data with a particular focus on informing the Southern Adelaide Economic Development Plan led by the Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board and involving the City of Marion, City of Onkaparinga, Flinders University and local industry.

The project will result in the following outcomes:

  • Extensive updating of South Australian data
  • Report on industry and employment trends and prospects in Southern Adelaide
  • Report on population and social trends in Southern Adelaide
  • Report on employment clusters in Southern Adelaide
